What we’re doing

FAYS aims to improve the youth sports experience and increase participation numbers in the youth sports ecosystem. We believe that there are currently many positive aspects of youth sports, but that refinement is necessary. The main flaws within the system stem from: cost, equitability of who can pay to play, safety of game play and environment, coach and referee certification, games vs practice time, and burnout of players.

The FAYS strategic team will use data driven solutions to target pain points within the ecosystem and strategically work to fix them. We believe that proper improvements will lead to more participants, more satisfaction (enjoyment), longer duration of play, improved mental health, less physical injuries, and an overall better experience for participants. With these improvements, youth sport operators should expect to see increased revenue, higher customer satisfaction, and be able to operate more efficiently.

Meet Fays Director

John Egidio graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Davis in 2022. He later received a Master’s Degree from St. Mary’s College in Athletic Administration in 2005.

Mr. Egidio’s love of sport began as a child. He was a 3-sport standout in his playing days at St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School in Vallejo, CA. He continued his basketball career at Napa Valley College from 1998-2000.

John worked in the California Community College system for 14 years. From 2006-2020, he served in various instructional and administrative roles in the Exercise Science and Athletics Department at San Diego Miramar College, including a 7-year stint as the Associate Head Coach of the school’s Men’s Basketball team.

From 2005-2009, John Egidio served as the first San Diego representative for a then budding company called MaxPreps. John’s role was to introduce area coaches to MaxPreps and its scheduling and statics platform. It was this position that introduced him to the many coaches and athletic administrators that he is still proud to call friends and colleagues today.

After leaving his role at MaxPreps, Mr. Egidio founded and operated Top Gun Basketball Academy in San Diego County from 2009-2017. Top Gun operated a variety of basketball offerings from leagues, tournaments, teams, camps, and clinics. In 2012, Egidio founded
Indivisible Hoops (Indihoops) that was a national media website for club basketball and ran as a leader in this space from 2012-2017.

Upon leaving his role with Top Gun and Indihoops, Mr. Egidio assisted his wife, Min, for 1 year (2017) at All Time Awards. All Time Awards is a leader in the awards and recognition industry nationally. All Time Awards expanded to a new warehouse in the Kearny Mesa area in 2020.

Mr. Egidio continues to serve in the youth sports space in his role as Athletic Director at the Cambridge School in Rancho Penasquitos. Egidio’s tenure at Cambridge began in 2018 and he is proud of what the Griffins have been able to accomplish so far in his first five years with the program. Mr. Egidio has most recently served in administrative roles for Thrive SD Sports (youth league).

John and Min Egidio have two daughters: Chloe (7) and Madison (6) and reside in the Rancho Penasquitos community.
